Where Your Money Goes

Proceeds from Canoe the Credit support the Conservation Youth Corps (CYC).

The CYC are high school students that live in the Credit River watershed and work really hard to protect and restore their local natural environment.

The CYC is creating a greener tomorrow by:

  • Planting trees
  • Stabilizing stream banks
  • Building wildlife habitats
  • Monitoring fish and aquatic habitats
  • Cleaning up polluted areas
  • Removing invasive plants

The greatest benefit of CYC, however, is perhaps in the minds of the teens who participate.

Most teens start the program with little or no concept of the natural environment. Therefore, the simple act of planting a tree also plants some pretty big ideas in their minds. These ideas then blossom into a sense of personal responsibility to protect the very environment that they live in.
